Apple has announced a $100 billion American Manufacturing Program (AMP), expanding its total U.S. investment to $600 billion over the next four years. The initiative aims to increase domestic production of critical components and advanced manufacturing for Apple products, while incentivizing global partners to manufacture more in the U.S. Apple plans to hire 20,000 workers primarily in research and development, silicon engineering, software development, and AI/machine learning. Initial AMP partners include Corning, Coherent, GlobalWafers America, Applied Materials, Texas Instruments, Samsung, GlobalFoundries, Amkor, and Broadcom. Key projects under AMP include a major expansion of Apple’s partnership with Corning to produce advanced smartphone glass in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and the opening of an Apple-Corning Innovation Center there.
