Read original articleIn August 2025, China's electric vehicle (EV) market showed continued growth but with signs of slowing momentum. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) increased by 17% year-over-year (YoY) to 686,000 units, representing 34% of total car sales, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) declined by 7% to 314,000 units. Extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) remained stable at 100,000 units. Overall, plug-in vehicles accounted for 55% of the market in August, pushing the year-to-date share to 51%, with BEVs alone at 32%. This suggests that most new cars sold in China this year have some form of electrification, and the market is on track to exceed 10 million plug-in vehicle sales by year-end.
