China recently conducted a live-fire exercise using its PCL-181 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer in high-altitude, mountainous terrain likely near the Tibetan Plateau or Xinjiang region. This test demonstrated the system’s ability to deliver precise fire and maintain mobility under harsh conditions such as thin air, cold weather, and steep slopes—factors that traditionally challenge artillery performance due to impacts on engines and ballistics.
