Ford has officially unveiled its highly anticipated affordable electric vehicle (EV) project, marking a significant milestone described as a “Model T Moment” for the automaker. The launch event took place at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky, where executives highlighted the company’s strategy to compete directly with Tesla and advance vehicle electrification. Central to Ford’s approach are three cost-cutting innovations: the use of low-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, a novel “tree” assembly process replacing traditional assembly lines, and a universal EV platform adaptable for various vehicle types including pickup trucks, vans, SUVs, and passenger cars.
