Motional names Major president, CEO of self-driving car business

Laura Major was appointed president and CEO of Motional, a leading autonomous vehicle company, in June 2025 after serving as interim CEO since September 2024. She succeeded Karl Iagnemma, who left to lead Vecna Robotics. Major has been with Motional since its founding in 2020, initially as CTO, where she spearheaded the development of the IONIQ 5 robotaxi, one of the first autonomous vehicles certified by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and created a machine learning-first autonomous driving software stack.
