OpenMind has launched OM1 Beta, described as the world’s first open-source, robot-agnostic operating system designed to enable intelligent robots to perceive, reason, and act without being limited by proprietary ecosystems. The San Francisco-based company aims to address robotics fragmentation by providing a universal platform that supports diverse robot types—including quadrupeds, humanoids, wheeled robots, and drones—and integrates AI models from OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, and xAI. Key features include natural voice and vision communication, autonomous navigation with real-time SLAM and lidar support, preconfigured agents for popular robot platforms, simulation capabilities via Gazebo, and cross-platform compatibility delivered through Docker. OM1 Beta is supported by OpenMind’s decentralized FABRIC coordination layer, which ensures secure machine identity and enables global collaboration among smart systems.
