Read original articleSilicon Ranch, a leading solar energy developer, is partnering with Central Electric Power Cooperative and Meta to build a 100-megawatt solar farm in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. This project supports Meta’s goal of 100% renewable energy for its first data center in the state and marks the fourth collaboration between Silicon Ranch and Central, as well as the 18th project between Silicon Ranch and Meta. The solar facility will be owned and operated by Silicon Ranch, with Central purchasing the generated energy to supply its 19 member cooperatives, including Aiken Electric Cooperative, which will directly serve Meta’s data center currently under construction.
The $100 million investment in the solar farm is expected to generate over $8 million in new tax revenues for local schools, infrastructure, and community priorities. Silicon Ranch will also implement its land stewardship program to enhance the land quality by promoting native grasses and pollinator habitats beneath the solar arrays.
