The breakthrough came through a novel AI-human collaboration. The ML algorithm, developed by experts at LMU Munich, was designed to classify magnetic orders and was particularly interpretable, requiring no prior training and working well with limited data. By feeding Monte Carlo simulation data of the cooling spin liquid into the algorithm, the team identified previously unnoticed patterns.
