Volvo Cars has unveiled the new XC70, its first long-range plug-in hybrid SUV, boasting an all-electric driving range of over 200 km under the CLTC cycle—the longest among Volvo’s plug-in hybrids to date. Built on Volvo’s Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) platform, the XC70 targets customers seeking extended electric range without fully committing to electric vehicles. Initially available for pre-order in China, Volvo plans to introduce the model to Europe later. The vehicle supports fast charging, reaching 80% battery capacity in 23 minutes, and features bi-directional charging, allowing the battery to power external devices. Combined with a combustion engine, the XC70 offers a total driving range exceeding 1,200 km, balancing electric efficiency with long-distance flexibility. The XC70 reflects Volvo’s modern Scandinavian design ethos, featuring a closed grille with an active shutter for improved aerodynamics and energy efficiency, vertical C-shaped taillights integrated into the rear glass, and a spacious, premium interior
