Read original articleQuantum Motion, a UK-based startup, has launched the world’s first full-stack quantum computer built using standard silicon chip technology found in smartphones and laptops. Deployed at the UK National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), this quantum computer is the first to utilize the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) fabrication process, the same transistor technology used in conventional computers. A key innovation is the integration of cryoelectronics that connect qubits with control circuits operating at very low temperatures, enabling significant scalability of quantum processors.
The system combines Quantum Motion’s Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) with a user interface and control stack compatible with industry-standard frameworks like Qiskit and Cirq, making it a comprehensive quantum computing solution.
